Two days in London. That was all Sam had planned — time to see the modern structures she had admired in pictures for years, starting with The Shard, a building famously sketched on a napkin before it became reality.
But the moment that mattered most happened somewhere far quieter: a narrow, deep bookstore minutes before closing, a book about Gaudí, and the sound of a tiny bell over the door.
“So you like the works of the Master Gaudí?”
Why London?
I wanted Sam’s fresh start to begin in a city that mixes history and bold modern architecture — a place where a small-town girl from Tennessee could feel both a little lost and completely alive. London gave her a stage, and JJ Walker walked right onto it.
